Eurogamer reports that the Switch will be getting Gamecube games on its Virtual Console service.
Emily Rogers also backs this up.
They say the first games being prepped for release are Super Smash Bros. Melee, Luigi’s Mansion, and Super Mario Sunshine. They also said that NERD (Nintendo European Research and Development) who are behind the emulation in the NES Classic Edition, are handling the Virtual Console for the Switch. As as well as there being an upgrade program similar to the Wii > Wii U VC.
In addition, they say that the Gamecube version of Animal Crossing is also being tested for release.
This certainly makes sense, but please don’t expect GC games to run at 8x native res with 8x AA or whatever you run Dolphin at on the Switch.
It won’t happen.
