Nintendo Switch Officially Supports Vulkan and OpenGL 4.5


The Nintendo Switch has been certified by the The Khronos a Vulkan 1.0 conformant implementation.

It refers to the OS as “Nintendo OS” but that’s not really much to read into.

Basically, this means that developers should have an easier time developing and porting games to the system.


He's been playing video games his entire life, and has gotten progressively worse at them as he's gotten older and more decrepit. He's been running this place (into the ground) since 2013. He's old. Keeps writing about Nintendo despite mountains of evidence proving he should never write anything. Very old. Lifelong Nintendo fan, doesn't care what you think about that. Did I mention how old he is? Because he's very old.

    That it supports OpenGL already makes it more powerful and capable than PS4 and Xbox One.
    I’ll have to look into this Vulkan dealy.

    • I wouldn’t say more it makes it more powerful, it definitely helps with easing the development of games and with ports though.
