Reggie confirmed to Polygon that Breath of the Wild is Nintendo’s final game for the system.
|“From a first-party standpoint, there’s no new development coming after the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We really are at the end of life for Wii U.”|
He also said that games will continue to be sold at retail, and that online services would continue.
|“From our standpoint, sunsetting is quite some time into the future. The ongoing activity from an online standpoint on [Mario] Kart and Splatoon is significant. We’re going to continue to support that.”|
I don’t regret buying the Wii U at all, and I will continue playing games on it long after the Switch is out. It was a good system that wasn’t marketed properly, which Nintendo themselves have admitted. I won’t get into how the media acted during its reveal, there’s no point anymore.
