“Seiken Densetsu Collection” Announced For Switch

Square-Enix is releasing a collection of Seiken Densetsu games (the Mana games in the west) in Japan on June 1st. It will contain the original Seiken Densetsu, released in the US as Final Fantasy Adventure and Europe as simply “Mystic Quest” (Not Final Fantasy Mystic Quest), Seiken Densetsu 2 (Secret of Mana), and Seiken Densetsu 3 which has never gotten an official English release.

It’s priced at 4800 Yen (around $42) physical and digital, 2 and 3 will support 3-player multiplayer as well. I’m not sure these are just rom dumps, as the original Seiken Densetsu 3 only supported two-players simultaneously. There was a fan-made patch for the rom to enable 3 players though.

I really hope Square-Enix brings this over to the west, I’ve been waiting since 1995 for an official English release of Seiken Densetsu 3.

I would buy it even if it is a bit expensive, and even though I have a reproduction cart of the fan-made translation.

Here’s a trailer:

And here’s the official box art:

He’s been playing video games his entire life, and has gotten progressively worse at them as he’s gotten older and more decrepit. He’s been running this place (into the ground) since 2013. He’s old. Keeps writing about Nintendo despite mountains of evidence proving he should never write anything. Very old. Lifelong Nintendo fan, doesn’t care what you think about that. Did I mention how old he is? Because he’s very old.

The trailer gives me some trepidation about these games running with such a low framerate. I feel like I’d rather wait for Seiken Densetsu III on Virtual Console so I can play it more accurately to the SFC original, and with the use of Nintendo’s Virtual Console Online service.
