Financial Times claims that Nintendo intends on increasing Switch production from 10 million units to 18 million units for this fiscal year (ends March 2018.) They say the information comes from “people close to the company.”
This is a pretty significant increase and would certainly help them keep up with the incredible demand for the system.
Of course it is just a rumor at this point, but it would make sense for them to up production as much possible.
One more thing:
There is no “artificial” scarcity or demand for the Switch being created by Nintendo. They are not holding back huge amounts of systems, they even shipped them by air to try to keep up with demand. You really think they would do something that increases costs if they had no need to?
